Leani's Wish

Wish Kid Leani

“ Family is the most important... ”

    • To go visit my cousins in Tennessee

Roxanna Perez and her husband Lance Castro wish nothing but the best for all their children. In dealing with their daughter Leani’s Autoimmune Disease, “we do whatever it takes to live life everyday as normal and happy as we can.” For those who have a family member dealing with a life-threatening medical condition, the sentiment is most common.

Make-A-Wish® wanted to grant the one true wish of this special girl.  For Leani, it was a wish to visit her cousins who had moved to Sparta, Tennessee.  Leani’s wish was unique since this was one of the first travel wishes to Tennessee that did not involve country music in Nashville or Elvis Presley’s Graceland in Memphis.

In June of 2013, Leani, parents and siblings made that trip and enjoyed every minute of their time.  They reunited with their extended family.  They visited parks, ate together, played together, took road trips together and just enjoyed each others’ company.

When Leani was asked why she chose this wish, she simply stated it included everyone in her family and that family is the most important thing to her.  Lance and Roxanna point out that all Leani’s siblings are involved in reminding Leani to take her medication and to refrain from too much strenuous activity.  A truly remarkable family that we are blessed to call friends.
